Description

Close to the top of Rooihoogte pass, at the entrance to the beautiful Koo Valley, sits Porcupine Peak Farm. 489 ha of rugged Karoo rock and shale terrain with magnificent mountain vistas of the Langeberg Mountain range, indigenous Fynbos, a river lined with majestic oak trees, pear and apricot orchards and a perennial spring of bottling quality water.

Fauna includes the rooikat, duiker, did-dik (buck), porcupine, wild rabbits, tortoises and frogs. The Black Eagle is often seen circling above Porcupine Peak, one of the many bird species that can be spotted on the farm.

The new owners renamed the farm Porcupine Peak due to the numerous amounts of porcupine quills found in the impressive kloof above the mountain cottage and rockpool. Previously it was known as Waboom Mountain Farm, named after the mountain range on the property. The existing buildings, dating back to 1875, are comprised of a farm house and 4 cottages, all beautifully renovated offering guests a welcoming bygone feeling.
