Inversanda is a country lover’s haven situated in the beautiful Dargle valley in the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal. We are in the privileged position of being situated right at the end of the road; a place to relax and soak up the peace and tranquility.
Visitors have truly arrived once they head off down our 2.5km driveway and see the Inhlosane mountain amphitheatre unfold in front of them, with the farm nestling in its footsteps. Ours is a very special valley – a jewel that we treasure. Children, horses and well behaved pets are very welcome.
ACCOMMODATION
THE JUDGE’S HOUSE
The Judge’s House is the former home of Tom’s parents David and Thadeen Bate and is ideal for 2 families to share who want lots of space. It is a short drive or walk from the farmhouse. David and Thadeen retired to the farm in their early 80s and the farm proved to be the tonic they both needed. David was to enjoy a further 15 years of active life riding the horses, fishing, growing veggies and taking his devoted dogs for long walks.
The Judge’s House has 2 double bedrooms (main ensuite) and 2 twin bedded rooms, family bathroom and a guest loo. It has a large fully equipped kitchen, formal dining room and large sitting room with a fireplace. The verandah has extensive views of the valley. There is also an adjoining granny flat with open plan bedroom/kitchen and bathroom which is ideal for young families who wish to bring a nanny with them.
FARMHOUSE PRIVATE WING
The farmhouse was built to a scale more commonly found on the sugar cane estates of the north coast of KZN and was much larger than the family needed. The private wing was therefore converted into a self-contained unit to help the farm get on its feet. It has its own entrance and garden.It also boasts the best fireplace on the farm which makes it really cosy in winter. It has a large sitting room, dining room and kitchenette. There is also a large family bedroom with an extra-long king size bed, twin bedroom and verandah with a magnificent view of the Nhlosane mountain.
THE BARN COTTAGE
The barn cottage was one of the original farm tractor sheds and comfortably sleeps 6. It is situated in a kikuyu field above the farmhouse where the horses often graze. It was converted largely using the farm staff when they had time to spare and took almost 2 years to complete. It is ideal for families taking their children and friends out from school as the 2nd bedroom has twin beds, a bunk bed and ensuite bathroom with a shower. The main bedroom has an extra-long king size bed and full ensuite bathroom. There is a large open plan fully equipped kitchen/sitting room with a fireplace and large verandah with a wonderful view of the Nhlosane mountain.
